East Providence Waterfront District The East Providence Waterfront District was created by the City in 2002 under State enabling legislation. The district consists of the following eight districts, totaling more than 400 acres. :Pawtucket Ave: :Phillipsdale: :Dexter Rd: :Crook Point: :Taunton Ave: :Bold Point: :Veteren's Memorial: :Kettle Point: The area is minutes away from DownCity Providence and the East Side. The waterfront is connected to Barrington, Warren and Bristol by the East Bay bike Trail, and will be connected to Providence by the new Rte. 195 linear park. The City and the Waterfront Commission would like to see a transition from industrial use to residential/mixed use/commercial. As industries leave, the potential for the under utilized waterfront is immense. The area has the potential for 2,500 residential units (so far 900 have been planned) and over 2 million square feet of office/commercial space. Plans call for a new North/South roadway (Waterfront Drive) to be built using the old Providence and Worcester railroad right-of-way. This project has been pledged over $10 million dollars and will facilitate efficient traffice flow along the waterfront. Parcels Arranged by Acreage Parcels Arranged by Map Block
