1/3/2017 - Information Systems Technician



Performs computer and/or network maintenance and troubleshooting for the consolidated Information Technology (IT) Department of the City municipal government and School Department; applies systems analysis techniques and procedures; isolates and diagnoses problems for PCs, laptops, Macintosh, Police Mobile Data Units, printers, Smart Boards/Document Cameras, Security Cameras, POS systems, wireless and wired switches and cell/smart and VOIP telephones; repairs, tests, reconfigures, modifies, or upgrades hardware (e.g. computers, printers, servers, multimedia devices and network equipment) and software components (systems and/or programs) in a timely and efficient manner; responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their technology; and performs other related tasks as required.


Graduation from a four-year, accredited college or university; with a major in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science  Two-years of hands-on experience working with current PC’s Windows 7 Operating Systems, and the Internet. Demonstration of knowledge of firewall security, TCP/IP protocols, and routing and switching environments involving Ethernet. Experience with various desktop software applications and network operating systems. Knowledge of IMC software desirable; or any equivalent combination of experience and training necessary to meet the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of the job.
