12/16/2010 - City begins to cap Forbes Street Landfill
Starting week of, December 13th the Rhode Island Department of Transportation will start the delivery of 50,000 cubic yards of fill material from the I-195 project to the former Forbes Street Landfill. The City can expect to see up to 100 truck trips per day traveling from I-195 to Wampanoag Trail to Forbes Street for a 5 to 6 week period. This material will be delivered at no cost to the City. The material will enable the City to begin the process of properly capping and grading the site with the eventual goal of constructing a clean, solar energy project at this underutilized property.
