3/7/2012 - Community Development Block Grant Program taking proposals for grant use
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
2012 - 2013
The City of East Providence is currently soliciting proposals for the use of 2012-2013 Community Development Block Grant funds estimated at $674,175. These funds will be available for programming during the fiscal year July1, 2012 - June 30, 2013. A high priority will be given to activities that promote economic development. Other funding categories include public facilities, affordable housing, and human services.
Applications and technical assistance are available by calling David Bachrach at 401.435.7535, mailing a request to: Community Development Division, 145 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914, or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. All proposals must be emailed to David Bachrach on the 2012-2013 Application for Funding Form as a word document, no later than the Application Deadline of March 29, 2012 by 4:00 p.m. Please contact this office if this submittal process presents significant burden.
As a part of the planning process for the use of these funds, the City will hold a Public Hearing for residents, City Council, agencies, profit and non profit interests, community groups, etc. to provide comment and input on the proposed use of CDBG funds.

All are encouraged to participate in determining how these funds are spent over the next year and the goals for the next 5 years. The Public Hearing starts a comment period, from April 4, 2012 and ending on May 4, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Written comments can be e-mailed or sent to: Attention David Bachrach, Community Development Division. All comments must be received by the last day of the comment period to be reviewed and considered. A copy of all comments will be included in the 1-year Action Plan to be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on May 16, 2012 for final approval.
