Historic Properties Study and Designation Commission
The commission consists of 12 qualified members who are residents of the City and appointed by the City Council. One of the members of the commission is a City Councilperson serving as the Council’s liaison and a second member is an employee of the Planning Department serving as a voting member. The members of the commission serve terms of three years and the purpose of the commission is to:
1. Educate the citizens of the City concerning the historic structures and sites within the City.
2. Present awards to the owners of historic properties for their restoration and/or preservation of their properties.
3. Strive to help protect historic properties from deterioration and loss.
The commission meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00P.M.in room 308 in City Hall. The commission usually does not meet in July or August. Input from the public is always welcomed.
